UKRI to bring future-looking dynamic to Global Ageing Conference as headline sponsor

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) is the headline sponsor at the Global Ageing Conference, taking place in Glasgow in September, and organised by the National Care Forum (NCF) together with Scottish Care and the Global Ageing Network.

UKRI’s presence at the Global Ageing Conference will be led by UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge, which is delivered by Innovate UK, the UK’s national innovation agency, and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Cynthia Bullock, Deputy Challenge Director from UKRI said:

“UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge is delighted to join colleagues from around the world to showcase some of the outstanding research and innovative solutions which are driving improvements in the way we deliver care for an ageing population. This conference highlights superbly the global nature of the ageing population challenge and emphasises the huge value from collaborations and partnerships.”

As well as talking about research and innovation from across the UK, George MacGinnis, Director of the UKRI’s Healthy Ageing Challenge, will also take part in panel sessions discussing the case for reform and will join other representatives taking to the stage to address delegates during the course of the two-day conference.

UKRI’s presence at the event couldn’t be timelier for Katie Smith Sloan, Executive Director of Global Ageing Network and CEO of LeadingAge who explained:

“Due to the massive changes that accompany global ageing – a reality that has no precedent

– it is imperative that we explore new and innovative ideas, policies and solutions to meet growing needs as current approaches will simply not sustain us.

“As we gather as leaders and experts in social care for the elderly in September, UKRI will bring a forward-looking dynamic to the event and provide a platform for providers to envisage what the future of social care could look like. We welcome them onboard as our headline sponsor.”

Delegates are invited to register to take part in the conference and can buy tickets at https://globalageing2023.com/delegate-registration/ with discounts available for National Care Forum and Scottish Care members. In addition to the packed agenda over those two days, delegates can also register for the Social Care International Workforce Summit taking place on 6th September at the Clayton Hotel in Glasgow.

Attendees will be able to join in with discussions about the main challenges around workforce including recruitment, retention and training. Places can be reserved by visiting https://globalageing2023.com/workforce-summit/.
