The pressure on you and our profession is greater than ever before. As the Voice of Nursing, the RCN wants to hear your story so we can always represent you fairly.

A global pandemic accompanied by severe nursing shortages and a cost of living crisis continue to impact nurses, nursing support workers and nursing students no matter your role or setting. I want to hear the personal impact on you, your work and your life, How are staffing levels and low pay affecting you right now?

We want to continue to hear your story and capture your lived experience so that we can better understand the professional and personal impact of today’s pressures . It is so important that we can demonstrate to politicians, employers, the public and the media the issues that are affecting the entire nursing workforce.

To do this we are using a tool we have used extensively before called SenseMaker, which combines qualitative and quantitative information and will help us to identify themes and trends. RCN_UK (sensemaker-suite.com)

We will use these themes to inform our work, support our members and influence decision makers on your behalf. The stories you share will also form an important historical record of nursing during these challenging times.

Please take the time to tell us your story – how work or study was for you yesterday or last week.

We are interested in your personal experience, your normal day as a nurse, nursing support worker or student – it doesn’t have to be exciting or ‘out of the ordinary’. We want to hear how you felt and what your experience meant to you both personally and professionally.

The tool is easy to use and won’t take much of your time. You can use it time and time again when you have a story you want to share. It is totally anonymous and we will never share your individual details.
