Heather Allin joined Craigielea Care Home in January 2015 and for the past 4 years has literally brightened up everyone around her, with her professional skills as a domestic assistant but more importantly with her kindness, compassion and overall sunny personality.
Heather provides the residents with a wonderful service as she cleans their rooms and living areas. Respect, dignity and compassion are always at the forefront of everything she does. Doors are knocked before entering, residents’ specific likes/dislikes are known and catered for every time. The resident’s rooms and property are cared for with special her care bestowed upon the residents themselves.

Heather knows all the residents by name and knows their personality traits, likes/dislikes and habits. She often assists residents who need to move from bedrooms to day rooms/dining room and does so without rushing them or making them feel like they are a burden..

If Heather sees a resident in need or if a resident asks for help, she will stop what she is doing to help. Pour a cup of tea, get a cardigan/blanket for someone who is cold, pass a tissue, or even just have a chat to keep someone company who feels unsure at that time. Despite this deviation from her domestic duties Heather never leaves her original duties less than perfect.
If this means working late or missing a break Heather doesn’t complain or worry. Her main concern is the residents. Heather truly embraces the fact that she is working for the residents directly.
She doesn’t just “clean” she “brightens everything” ?
