We are pleased to announce that the IHSCM Fellowship Pathway and High Performance Leadership Competency Framework have been fully updated to align with the NHS College of Leadership & Management, the 2026 NHS Leadership & Management Framework, and the new NHS Staff Standards.

These updates ensure IHSCM members develop leadership capability consistent with national expectations for modern health and social care leaders, including:

• Professional leadership identity
• Compassionate, inclusive leadership
• Psychological safety
• Speaking up & listening up
• Digital capability
• System partnership working
• Population health & inequalities reduction

The updated Fellowship Pathway remains free, open to all members, and grounded in our “by members, for members” ethos. It now provides recognised evidence of leadership development aligned with national standards.

The updated competency framework supports leaders at all levels to self?assess, grow, and demonstrate high?performance leadership in the 2020s and beyond.
