IHSCM is championing Taking Charge, an acclaimed free service that helps people who draw on social care, family carers, and professional care workers reduce their energy bills without compromising quality of life. Empowering people to cut their annual energy bills by up to one third with just 15 minutes of

The training features Oliver, who draws on care and support, guiding you through energy saving solutions for every room without sacrificing comfort or independence.

• Practical toolkit: An easy-to-follow guide with the very best tips to cut waste, switch to efficient habits, and apply low-cost changes that deliver significant savings.

• Easy Read guide: An accessible guide that empowers people who draw on care and support to understand their energy use and build simple routines so they can spend more of their money on the things that they love and less on bills.

Proven impact

Now in its third year, Community Integrated Care has delivered Taking Charge to more than 1,000 people and teams across the care sector. An incredible 100% of participants have reported new skills they can immediately apply to reduce their bills.

Vic Rayner OBE, CEO of the National Care Forum, says: “Taking Charge brings practical, accessible energy saving guidance to the people at the heart of social care – disabled individuals, carers and those who support them. Every solution in the campaign blends expert, accessible learning packed with energy-saving guidance and co produced, practical insights from paid carers, family carers, and experts by experience. We are absolutely delighted to continue to support Community Integrated Care as they relaunch Taking Charge. Our thanks go out to every organisation and individual that champions this vital campaign.”

John Hughes, Director of Partnerships and Communities, Community Integrated Care, says: “Energy costs are placing difficult pressure on many people who draw on social care, and the colleagues and families who support them. Too often, energy saving advice is complex, inaccessible and hard to apply. Taking Charge overcomes this, giving people practical advice that really meets their needs.”
